"Awesome Gear and Customer Support Done Right"
For years, my kids have been using High Sierra Backpacks, specifically the Access Laptop models. They’re tough, come in a bunch of colors, and have plenty of pockets. We typically swap them out every couple of years because of regular wear and tear. Once they started high school, durability became a must—those textbooks are super heavy nowadays.
The website has all the different colors and styles, unlike some stores that only stock a few options.
We had two of our Access backpacks tear in the same spot: where the zipper connects to the top of the front pocket. I reached out to High Sierra's customer service since the tags mention a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Because the damage was from regular use, they replaced the backpacks at no cost!
I did need to take photos of the damage and provide details about when I bought them (2 and 4 years back!). My claim got approved, and to get the replacements, I had to cut a hole in both backpacks to show they were unusable, which saved me from having to pay to send them back. I also sent a list of the four replacements I wanted.
Both new backpacks showed up within a week after I sent the final pictures! The three customer service reps I spoke with were all super helpful, expressed regret that our products didn’t hold up, and clearly explained what I needed to do for the replacements. They didn’t even ask for the original sales receipt, just the tags from inside the bags to confirm they were High Sierra products.
More companies ought to learn from High Sierra: they truly back their products, made the claim and replacement process straightforward, and honored their warranty commitments.
